Overview
Logging into your OANDA account lets you access trading platforms, manage funds, view charts, and place orders. Whether you use OANDA’s web portal, desktop app, or mobile app, the sign-in process is straightforward. This guide explains each method, security best practices, and step-by-step troubleshooting for common login problems.
How to sign in (Web & Desktop)
To sign in on the web or desktop platform:
- Open the OANDA website or launch the desktop application.
- Click the Sign In or Log In button visible in the top corner.
- Enter your registered email address and your password.
- If prompted, complete any two-factor authentication (2FA) step.
- After successful authentication you’ll be redirected to your account dashboard.
How to sign in (Mobile)
On iOS or Android:
- Open the OANDA mobile app.
- Tap Sign In, input your email and password, and complete any 2FA prompts.
- If you have saved credentials or biometric login enabled, follow prompts for fingerprint/Face ID login.
Password reset & account recovery
If you forget your password:
- Use the
Forgot Passwordlink on the sign-in page. - Enter the email tied to your account; you’ll receive a password reset link.
- Follow the link and choose a strong new password (use a long passphrase or unique random password).
If you do not receive the reset email, check your spam/junk folder and ensure your email provider is not blocking messages. If problems persist, contact OANDA support with identity verification details.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
For better security, enable 2FA. Typical options include authenticator apps (TOTP) or SMS codes. Authenticator apps are recommended because they are more secure than SMS. Steps to enable 2FA:
- Go to your account settings > Security > Two-Factor Authentication.
- Choose your 2FA method and follow the setup instructions (scan QR code or enter a code).
- Store recovery codes securely — they’ll help if you lose access to your 2FA device.
Troubleshooting common login issues
Incorrect password error: Reset your password. Avoid reusing passwords from other sites.
2FA device lost: Use previously saved recovery codes or contact support and be ready to verify identity (ID, account details).
Security best practices
Protect your trading account with these practices:
- Enable 2FA with an authenticator app.
- Use a password manager to generate and store unique passwords.
- Never share login details or recovery codes.
- Keep your email account secure — it’s often the recovery channel.
- Regularly review account activity and authorized devices.
Demo vs Live account sign-in
OANDA typically provides separate access for demo (practice) and live trading accounts. Make sure you select the correct environment during login. Demo accounts are great for learning without risking real capital.
